The following items can be borrowed through the Resource Center.

Programs In a Box

NOTE: Each kit provides ideas and supplies for activities related to the theme. Some kits also include sample projects when something is made.

  • Birds, Care About Nature: songs, appearances, and behavior of birds

  • Vintage Clothes Through the Years: clothes from the past to go along with Try-It Brownie Girl Scouts through the years.

  • Cassette Player: can be used with cassettes we have and to be used with the Star Gazing Kit

  • Disability Awareness: Various activities to show how girls with disabilities feel. It addresses several disabilities.

  • Dress Up Box: Contains several fancy outfits, purses, jewelry. Idea to use with programs like Looking Your Best (Junior) or Let’s Pretend (Brownie)

  • Egypt – Ancient Adventure.

  • Fill the Bill, Care About Nature: birds’ diets and eating habits

  • Focus on Ability: This box is to go along with the book Focus on Ability: Serving Girls with Special Needs

  • GirlSports: box of equipment for sports, plus game and instruction book

  • Insects, Bugs, Spiders: study of bugs, insects, spiders

  • International Flag Sets: Tiny table-top international flag sets and large hanging flag sets for ceremonies such as Thinking Day.

  • Leather Program: box of supplies to work with leather

  • Lemmy Sticks: a chant and patterned movement game with wooden sticks from New Zealand and Native Americans

  • Looking Your Best: Junior Looking Your Best Badge

  • Luau Decorations: various decorations with a Luau theme

  • Magnifying Glasses: these can be used for camping activities or other activities

  • Manners: Brownie Manners Try-It

  • Math Fun: for the Math Fun Try-It, especially requirements 1, 3, 4, 6

  • Math Whiz: for the Math Whiz for Badge, especially requirements 2, 3, 5, 8

  • Nature Scavenger Hunt: lists and marking pencils for an outdoor scavenger hunt

  • Oceans, Care About Nature: activities related to the oceans, especially seashells, coral reefs, aquatic animals, and conservation issues

  • Parachute Games: game with large parachutes and balls; girls stand in a circle and move the parachute together

  • Patriotism: information about Ohio, United States, the flag, flag folding, constitution

  • Puppets, Dolls, & Plays: for the Try-It; samples are provided. Make 5 different puppets. All material is included.

  • Rainforest Box: for various issues about rainforests and their conservation

  • Rainstick Making Kit: small seeds or rice in a cardboard tube that sounds like rain when moved slowly

  • Star Gazing Kit: indoor planetarium, with star maps for each of the four seasons

  • Thinking Day: helps to celebrate the World Wide Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts

  • Underground Railroad: for the Underground Railroad Patch; a box for each age Brownies, Juniors, Older Girls

  • Uniform Fashion Show in a Box: has uniforms from the past along with a skit to describe them

  • Uniform Fashion Show: Peeking at the Past: Girl Scout Uniforms from the past Brownie through Senior with a script for doing a fashion show.

  • Zink the Zebra: This program uses video, puppets/beanies, and books to relate a story written by a girl who had cancer about cancer and about how differences are OK. Zink is a zebra with spots instead of stripes. Kits are age level appropriate.

Other kits are in the works and troops can donate kits to the Resource Center

Also available for check-out

  • Tool Kits: compasses, pocket knives, button making supplies, stop watches

  • GS and WAGGGS uniforms through the years – You can choose the year range and age level and just check out one or a few uniforms instead of checking out the whole fashion show in a box.

  • Various flags: US, Ohio, Montgomery County, Daisy, Brownie, GS, WAGGGS

  • Various packaged programs on the shelves, usually including a leader’s book or activities packet, girl books, and a video.
