Girls in Action

Junior and Cadette Girl Scouts from Troop 3826 of Huber Heights had the opportunity to take to the air as they participated in Flight and Flight Simulation presentation as part of the "Girls in Science" program sponsored by the Cincinnati Branch of the American Association of University Women. The girls were first given a presentation on flying and meteorology. They had the chance to use a realistic flight simulator to learn how to fly.

Then the fifteen Girl Scouts met at the Dayton International Airport where they had the opportunity to pilot a plane as they flew over Dayton. For many of the Girl Scouts, this was the first time they ever flew.

The guest presenter and pilot was Donna Henshew, Assistant Professor, Aviation Technology program at Sinclair College and a presenter for the "Girls in Science" program.

The troop which is led by Mr. John Betts, are  6th and 7th graders from Weisenborn Middle School and members of GEMS (Girls Enjoying Math and Science) Club. The goal of the troop is to promote math and science learning for girls. See photos.
