Camp Whip-Poor-Will

In Warren County, Ohio near the Little Miami River, Camp Whip-Poor-Will consists of 505 acres of land ranging from grassy meadows to steep ravines.

This camp has many campsites which vary from platform tents to dormitory-style buildings.

Program opportunities abound at Camp Whip-Poor-Will

  • Nature Hikes.  A combination of hardwood forest, conifer forest and plenty of wildflowers make this a wonderful site to explore various types of natural habitats.

  • Wading & Fossil Hunting.  With a wet season, some ravines give way to small creeks that make excellent spots for wading and fossil hunting.

  • Sports & Games.  Large open grassy areas make it possible to take part in sports activities, new games, or stargazing on a clear night.

  • Sand Volleyball.  A sand volleyball court promises hours of fun

  • Archery Range. An archery range is also available along with equipment.

  • Fishing & Canoeing.  A small pond is ideal for fishing, canoeing and pond studies.

Buckeye ranch Horseback Riding

Buckeye Ranch is the place to be if your heart's set on hitting the trail on horseback. The winding paths on Camp Whip-Poor-Will's sprawling 580 acre woodland encompass the breathtaking scenery and terrain of the picturesque Fort Ancient Valley.

Each summer girls come to camp looking for fun and adventure. Summer Camp provides a wonderful opportunity for them to make new, friends, gain independance, enjoy the outdoors, have fun and make memories to last a lifetime.

Camp Whip-Poor-Will has the following facilities

Camp sites :

  • Grace Cullen Cabin: Two story authentic cabin excellent for meetings and programs. No overnight camping permitted.

  • Mary Rollins Lodge: Winterized lodge that will accommodate large group events, meal preparation and troop overnights.Walk-in freezer, dishwasher, refrigerator, convection ovens, propane ranges, cooking and serving dishes and plates, silverware and glasses.

  • Mary Rollins Troop House: An addition to the lodge but can be closed off from the lodge. Full bathroom with showers and toilets, telephone and small residential kitchen.Accommodates 24 people

  • Evergreen: Year-round facility with bunks, bathrooms with showers and a shared kitchen. Accommodates 48 people, 24 on each side

  • Cookie House: A large heated room which provides dormitory-style sleeping with kitchen and a small bathroom with shower and toilet. Has indoor fireplace and outdoor fire circle. Accommodates 32 people

  • Woollard Treehouses: Treehouses are three-sided joined with a walkway with screened kitchen shelter, lights, fireplace, two fire circles and latrine. This unit is partially handicapped accessible .Accommodates 24 people

  • Seven platform tent units with screened kitchen shelter, fire circle, oasis with water and latrine. Accomodate from 16 - 36 in 4 - 9 tents..

  • Conestoga Wagon Unit-Woodland Acres: Sleeping units designed to look like old pioneer wagons with a standard kitchen unit, oasis and latrine. Accommodates 25 people in five wagons.

  • Cedar Trail: Cabins with screened kitchen shelter, fire circle, oasis with water and latrine. Accommodates 32 people in 4 cabins.

  • Fernwood: Cabin that sleeps 21 in three high bunks, with attached enclosed kitchen shelter, fire circle, oasis with water and latrine. Remote location more suitable to older girl troops.
