ADVENTURE CAHLLENGE EDUCATION - HIGH ROPES

Girls challenge themselves 25 feet in the air as they make their way across a system of ropes and cables. Secured in a harness, participants will enjoy a zip line descent.

ADVENTURE CAHLLENGE EDUCATION - TEAM INITIATIVES

Participate in games and challenges to help build your group’s teamwork, understanding and respect for each other. Learn how to think through problems and include the entire group in the solution. AMERICAN PATRIOTISM DAY

Girls will earn the American Patriotism Patch, while both adults and girls gain the skills to successfully complete flag ceremonies that they can do for Girl Scout events, as well as for community agencies.

ANNUAL EARTH DAY EVENT PROGRAM AIDE OPPORTUNITY

Girls will help prepare and deliver the Earth Day Event on April 16th. We will set up Friday night and then stay in the troop house. The group will rise early to finish preparing the stations and setting up for the event. Dinner and breakfast will be provided. Girls will also help with running stations at the event

ARCHERY I

Girls will learn the basics of archery from a certified instructor. During this 2 hour workshop, participants will learn safety rules, proper handling of equipment and shooting techniques. Each participant will have an opportunity to practice and evaluate their skills and help others during this workshop.

Girls will expand their skills in archery by shooting for points, balloon shooting and distance shooting. Participant must complete Archery 1 before signing up for Archery 2.

BRIDGE TO ADULT WORKSHOP

This workshop is available to graduating seniors to meet the requirements for the Bridge to Adult pin, which will be presented at the adult recognition event in April.

If the graduating senior would like to receive her pin at the annual Recognition Event and cannot attend a workshop, she needs to write a description of what she did to fulfill the three steps and request that the pin be awarded at the annual Recognition Event. The Bridge to Adult requirements are found at www.girlscouts.org/program/gs_central/insignia/bridging_awards/adult.asp. This information must be submitted to the Girl Scout Center by March 31, 2011.

A graduating senior may also earn and receive the Bridge to Adult pin by doing the three steps in her troop or alone and receive her bridging pin in a troop meeting or service unit meeting after taking part in a Bridging ceremony that she helped plan.

CAMPING 101

First time camping? Let this ease you into it! Do some beginning camp skills and meet new friends. Cook-out, go one a hike, learn fire safety and learn games. One leader from each troop will receive lodge camp training Saturday from 9:00 a.m. - noon. Please specify the name of this leader on the registration form. Each troop must follow girl/adult ratio regulations and stay for the entire program to receive credit.

DEFY THE STEREOTYPE

This opportunity allows girls to kick off the Girl Scout year by interacting with female professionals and exploring careers and activities that are traditionally considered male roles. Non-members are invited to come to this event to experience what Girl Scouts has to offer and join the organization.

FATHER/DAUGHTER ADVENTURE DAY

Come and join the fun as we explore creeks, create nature projects, cook over a fire and spend the whole day with that special man in your life. Bring your dad or any other adult male role model to spend the day at camp with you! Bring a sack lunch, we will be cooking our dinner together over a fire. Dress for the weather and wear clothing you don’t mind getting dirty. Bring an extra pair of shoes or boots that can get wet.

MEDIA MOGUL GROUP

This group is for girls interested in the media and want to gain experience in the behind the scenes operations. Girls will participate in Public Service Announcements (PSA’s), contribute to the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio Chatterbox Blog and go on interactive field trips, like to a TV production studio to work cameras, soundboards and make commercials.

OPERATION SNOWFLAKE

Camp Myeerah is the place to be this February! Planned by girls, for girls. This friendly competition tests girls outdoor winter skills. POSITIVE POWER

This class will give girls the tools to boost their personal power in relationships. Girls will learn about relationship rights and what makes a relationship healthy or unhealthy through interactive discussion and activities. This training is a leadership course for girls who are interested in working with younger girls at program opportunities, such as day camps, council events, troop settings or special events.
