Journey’s Highlight
This month kicks off our Journey’s Highlight column! For
the next six months, each time you receive Council
Trainer E-News, another grade level will be covered.
This section is designed to provide you with knowledge
and talking points when promoting Journeys at the
trainings you facilitate.
Have you received difficult questions about Girl Scout
Journeys, while leading a training? Please send them to
Beth Wanat
and we will do our best to address them right here!
This Month:

Grades K-1
It’s Your World—Change It!
Welcome to the Daisy Flower Garden
It’s Your Planet—Love It!
Between Earth and Sky
Both current Girl Scout Daisy Journey program books are
designed so that the girls Discover about themselves and
what makes them unique, Connect with one another and how
to work together, and Take Action to participate in a
service project in their community. All of which are
outcomes from the
Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
Each Girl Scout Daisy Journey
series focuses on parts of the Girl Scout Promise and
Law in order to help the girls learn and conceptualize
the foundations of Girl Scouting
Sample Game for Girl Scout Daisies
Leaders, especially new leaders attending trainings,
want to come away with some practical activities or
games to use with their girls. Below is an example of an
ideal game to do just that!
The Sister Game (This can be
done to music)
1. Everyone gets a partner and forms a double circle
with one partner in the outside circle and one on the
inside circle.
2. Partners practice grabbing hands and squatting.
3. Each circle moves around in a different direction and
when the
leader claps her hands, each must find their partner and
squat as fast as possible.
5. Last ones to squat are out.
6. Before the circles begin moving again, have the girls
answer questions with their partners such as, “Do you
have any brothers or sisters?” or “What is your favorite
color?”
6. Repeat until only one couple remains.
You can modify this game by having the girls find
partners initially, but when the music stops, she must
grab the girl’s hand that is in front of her, and answer
the questions to get to know her fellow Girl Scout
sisters better.
