Outstanding Volunteer Award Criteria
The Outstanding Volunteer Award recognizes an adult in a position other than leader or in addition to leader whose service benefits a geographic or program delivery unit in a way that is beyond the expectations for the position.
Criteria
The nominee...

is a registered Girl Scout adult

has completed appropriate training, or demonstrated competence for the job, or both

has performed at a level that exceeds the expectations of the position as outlined in the job description/agreement

has a nominator who completes the Nomination for Adult Recognition - Awards Requiring Service Team approval and describes her/his outstanding qualities; written or taped.

sends the application with the written or taped description to the Director of Volunteer Development

A recruiter who has retained or increased adult or girl membership in an area beyond the goals set for that area.

A delegate who successful uses the democratic process to incorporate the membership’s opinions to arrive at a decision.

A consultant who consistently provides high quality contemporary issues programs to girls.

A person who has significantly increased Girl Scouting’s positive image within a community through a wide variety of methods and media.

An event director who has managed several successful events with increased use of girl planning and involvement.

The troop/group chair for the family partnership campaign that has increased support from the local community and families and who gives a personally significant donation.
Award Placement
The Outstanding Volunteer Award is a pin depicting a white chain and gold trefoil against a red background. It is worn on the right side of the uniform, below the personalized identification pin, or on either side of the Years of Service pin.
If an adult has received more than one special award, e.g. Appreciation Pin or Honor Pin, the last one received is generally the one worn on the uniform.
